About The Event

Younger generations of Americans have lost habits and traditions that used to create community. We may still meet in churches, bars, and clubs, but we rarely create bonds that last longer than a life season, and that truly force us to get out of ourselves. Most of the times, people have virtual interactions and prefer not to enter relationships that demand commitment and continuity.

One of those lost traditions is Bowling Leagues. In his book Bowling Alone: The Collapse and Revival of American Community, Robert D. Putnam underscores precisely how American culture has turned away from community and become individualistic. What a better way to celebrate the end of a fruitful academic year, then, than by joining the Austin Institute's bowling tournament & party?!

Since the spots are limited, we have included a registration fee, to avoid no-shows. Of course, you are always welcome to donate more. The event will include the use of 4 bowling lanes, free non-alcholic drinks and a fair amount of snacks!

The torunament will run from 6 PM to 8 PM. Since we would like to make the most of those 4 lanes, we ask you to please be there on time.

    This is your event ticket. Ticket holders must present their tickets on entry. The minimum fee is $10, this will save your spot and pay the entry to the tournament. If you would like to further support the Austin Institute's initiatives, we welcome any additional amount you wish to contribute as a donation.
