The Associate Director of Academic Programs forms a unique link between UT-Austin undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, and the wider Austin community. From directing reading groups and teaching seminars to coordinating major university and community lectures, the director builds intellectual community within the university and beyond. This full-time position has flexible hours and includes some evening and weekend events throughout the academic year.
What we’re looking for:
The Associate Director of Academic Programs should be intellectually curious and entrepreneurial and should possess strong organization and writing skills. He/she should be a good conversationalist and feel comfortable initiating regular, informal contact with university faculty and students. We are looking for a person of integrity whom students want to emulate. Ph.D. in hand by start date preferred.
Plan and run events for the institute and aimed at (but not limited to) the UT-Austin community of undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty (primarily) and relevant audiences in Austin (secondarily).
Coordinate (along with our graphic designer) creation and dissemination of publicity and marketing materials for events
Oversee AI Undergraduate Fellows Program and internships
Plan and facilitate summer seminars for high school and college students
Build relationships with UT-Austin faculty, students, and student organizations
Forge partnerships with like-minded Austin-area nonprofits
Maintain institute website and Facebook page and publish bi-weekly newsletter
Perform various institute tasks: we all do a little bit of everything
