What's the big deal about divorce? Why should we read and talk about it when everyone around us seems to be fine with it? The truth is: no matter what our family background, our age, or our state in life is, we all need to rediscover the immense impact that family life has on us and on our culture.

About The Event

Austin's young professionals ages 21 and up are gathering for intellectual and human enrichment at the Austin Institute!

The Good Life Book Club is the best place to make new friends and explore questions on human flourishing!

We read literature that speaks to the most profound human needs and deals with the most contemporary issues: such as religion, sex, and family life. We gather at the institute's beautiful backyard or lovely indoor spaces. A glass of wine will always be offered.

About our latest book:

"Abigail Favale has written a beautiful and profound reflection on the gift of our embodiment as male and female. The Genesis of Gender is essential reading for anyone who wants to understand how we arrived at such a confused state and how we can lovingly promote the truth about human nature."

— Ryan T. Anderson, Ph.D., President of the Ethics and Public Policy Center

Come join us for our latest compact book club on: Genesis of Gender.

The question of gender—who we are as men and women—has never been more pressing, or more misunderstood.

Weaving personal experience with expert knowledge, Dr. Abigail Favale provides an in-depth yet accessible account of the gender paradigm: a framework for understanding reality and identity that has recently risen to prominence. Favale traces the genealogy of gender to its origins in feminism and postmodern thought, describing how gender has come to eclipse sex, and how that shift is reshaping language, law, medicine, sexuality, and our own self-perceptions.

It’s guaranteed to be an eye-opening and deep discussion. We hope that you will join in, while building lasting friendship and community.
