About The Event
We all heard it, we read it, by now we know it: married people--scholars say--are happier. Yet, attitudes are slow to change. Notwithstanding the data (married people are wealthier, live longer, etc.), young people continue postponing commitment while cohabitation continues to be considered a valid alternative. In this seminar, we will look at different approaches to marriage, while diving a little deeper into the wounds of a family-unfriendly culture. Besides the data, we will use literature (and a play), consider theories around choice, and reflect on our lived experiences around romance and marriage. Led by Dr. Orlandi, this will be a one-of-a-kind occasion to think aloud about the romance and the kind of family life most of us desire.
