About The Event
When was the last time you sat around a fire and listened to a good story, tale, or poem? When was the last time you told one to your kids or grandkids? When did you last take time to be under the stars (while eating a delicious s'more!)?
On Saturday, December 6th, hosted by the Austin institute, you'll have the opportunity to do just that!
Gathering together on the traditional feast of St. Nicholas, Stumberg Hall will become a place for stories and for some magic. A place to rediscover and revive the good traditions of old, such as this one.
In the Alpine regions of Europe, this night is also known as Krampusnacht. Traditionally, older men of the town would dress up as Krampus--half man and half goat--to frighten the children with the goal of reminding them of the importance of good behavior. While we might not have our Krampus at Stumberg Hall (who knows?), we do encourage you all to come to the party with a short story, or song, or poem with a similar moral.
Since St. Nicholas is also the patron saint of children, the donations that we will receive on that night will go directly to the support of our summer high school seminar.
To participate, please RSVP by Dec. 1st and indicate if you have something you would like to share. Spots are limited.
