About The Event

The Austin Institute usually opens the academic year by welcoming faculty and students with a big celebration and the best burgers and brats in town… Like nearly every other plan, this one is being altered by Covid. We cannot host big parties, so your first occasion to mingle, and to create new and long-lasting friendships with some of the greatest people in Austin might need to be postponed.

Nevertheless, since burgers are cooked outdoors and we all need to have dinner, we invite undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty to pass by the institute at one of the one-hour time slots so that we can observe the 10-person limit. We encourage you to bring your friends! Please help us out by letting us know whether you and how many of your friends would prefer to come at 5:00, 6:00, or 7:00 pm and we will confirm with you via email.

Masks and hand sanitation will be made available.

We look forward to welcoming you and your friends warmly and safely!
