What's the big deal about divorce? Why should we read and talk about it when everyone around us seems to be fine with it? The truth is: no matter what our family background, our age, or our state in life is, we all need to rediscover the immense impact that family life has on us and on our culture.

About The Event

Come join the Austin Institute and the Salem Center for an End of Year Cookout on Saturday, May 7th, at 12:00 PM. We all want to make sure that our students get to eat well in a time of stressful finals!

This gathering at the park will be an occasion for us all to celebrate the end of the semester as well as this new institutional collaboration, which sees different scholarship and people of various fields come together to intellectually engage in the things that matter most in a free society. Above all though, it will be a time for leisure: with good food, games, and fun.

Of course, do not forget to bring your kids, parents, and relatives along too. In the spirit of the Austin Institute, this is a family-friendly party: open to students, faculty, staff, and all their friends. We hope to see as many old and new faces there as possible!

We will be meeting at the local Pease District Park, near the Shoal Creek Volleyball courts. Yes, you guessed correctly: in addition to providing great food, we plan on a competition too. “Trade Offs” v. “Natural Law”? Team names are TBD still, but feel free to send suggestions when you register (in the comments' box). Also, please, indicate the size of your party, so that there will be food for all.

Of course, there will be brats and drinks, more games to play, more things to learn, and new people to meet!

We look forward to seeing you there.
